FAQ's

Common questions and answers about our products...

How is our detergent different from the other powder detergents that are on the market ?
We use food grade ingredients in our detergents like baking soda and salt, that are safe for your clothes and for the environment. Our recipes are derived from old fashion formulas using real vegetable oils in our artisan made soaps as a timeless way to clean. Just like Nana and her washboard, we use the same principles of natural and effective ingredients for laundering today's needs with a hint of fun fragrances safe for the entire family.

I’m a vegan can I use this?
We do not test our products on any animals. We test on real laundry. Our dryer balls are made from 100% New Zealand, fair trade and ethically treated sheep.

All our ingredients in all our laundry products are free from any animal by-products.

Our body soap bars are made from locally sourced goat milk.

Are your products gluten-free?
There are no traces or ingredients of gluten in any of our products

I have hard water. Can I use your detergent?
Yes. Our detergent is formulated for all types of water.

Is your detergent cold water safe?
Yes. Our detergents are also designed to dissolve in cold water.

What happens if I lose my scoop that came with my detergent? Our scoops are measured by tablespoons. If you lose your scoop, simply designate a tablespoon from your kitchen to use solely as your laundry spoon.

Can I use this in my high-efficiency (HE) machine?
Yes. HE machines use less water therefore less soap is required. Use 1 tbsp for small loads and 2 tbsp for med-large loads. If needed, dissolve the powder detergent in a cup of warm water for machines requiring liquid detergents.

Is your detergent cloth diaper safe?
Yes! Our detergent was originally formulated for cloth diaper and for sensitive skin.
We recommend the RDA’s Cloth Diaper Washing Guidelines.

Can I use the Strip It Plus for anything else other then cloth diapers? Yes. Our Strip It Plus formula can be used to clean sneakers, toilets, sinks, plastic lawn furniture and toys. Simply add water, scrub and rinse.

Can I use your oils in my diffuser? We don't recommend using our oils in a diffuser as we blend our fragrances bottles with alcohol, to ensure optimized dryness and absorption when applied to our dryer balls. Diffusers or oil burners often require 100% essential oil only.

Can I use my own essential oils on your dryer balls?
Yes. However you do have to make sure that the oil is soaked up in the dryer balls to ensure they do not leave oils stains. Let dry 15-20 minutes after applying to the dryer ball before adding the balls to your load.

Laundry Tarts is not responsible for stains left on clothes when other brands of fragrance oils are used on our Tumbler Tart dryer balls.

How many dryer balls do you recommend using?
We recommend 3-6 dryer balls. 3 balls for small to medium loads, and 6 balls for larger loads and heavier garments.

I have a wool allergy can I still buy yours?
Our wool dryer balls are triple washed, fragrance free and dye free but we cannot guarantee that you wont have an allergic reaction.

Do you test on animals?
No we do not test on animals and we do not source any of our ingredients from 3rd parties that test on animals. We use food grade ingredients in all our laundry products.
